Artur Samofalov was born in the city of Sumy in 1987. In 2006, after graduating from the Sumy Higher College of Culture, he entered the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (Department of Graphic Arts). Throughout his studies, Artur preferred watercolors.
Between 2014 and 2017, he studied for a master’s degree in Graphic Design and New Media at the Institute of Arts at the University of Opole (Poland).
From 2021 to 2022, he studied at the Free Workshops on the course «Contemporary Art» at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.
At the moment, Artur Samofalov continues to work both in watercolor technique and with new media, primarily with video installation and video art.
The artist is interested in the theme of the nature of human perception and the practice of self-identification. Artur’s projects focus on the aspects of the contradictory perception of reality, the complexity of its articulation and interpretation.
He lives and works in Moscow and Sevastopol.
